About the Role

This is a full-time hybrid role for an Electrical Engineer at Evans Engineering and Construction. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing and analyzing electrical systems, managing installation and maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and resolving technical issues. The role is based in Nairobi County, Kenya, with flexibility for some remote work.

Requirements

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.

  • Professional Certification: Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) or equivalent certification.

Experience:

  • Professional Experience: Typically 3-5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, covering areas such as power systems, control systems, or electrical design.

  • Project Experience: Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical systems for various types of projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial.

Technical Skills:

  • Design Software: Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PowerWorld, or similar tools.

  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of electrical systems, including power generation, transmission, distribution, and control systems.

  • Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently.

Key Competencies:

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Expertise in identifying and addressing electrical problems and implementing effective solutions.

  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in designing electrical systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, contractors, and team members.

Other Requirements:

  • Health and Safety: Knowledge of electrical safety standards and practices, and the ability to enforce safety protocols on-site.

  • Legal Compliance: Familiarity with local electrical codes, standards, and regulations, including environmental considerations.

  • Project Management: Experience in managing electrical projects, including planning, scheduling, and resource management.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Advanced Degree: A master’s degree or specialized training in a particular area of electrical engineering can be beneficial.

  • Professional Memberships: Membership in professional organizations such as the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) or the Kenya Association of Electrical Engineers (KAEE) is often preferred.
